SINGAPURA

cats
The Singapura is truly the Cinderella of cat breeds with its origins as a street cat in Singapore but today found mixing, in the best of company on the show benches.

With a deceptively delicate appearance and an angelic face one would never guess that the Singapura was known as a 'drain' cat in Singapore.

Although developed as a purebred show cat in USA during the 1970s, in 1991 the Singapura was to be a 'living national monument' by the Singapore Government and the Singapore Tourist and Promotion Board placed statues of the Singapura along the river and began featuring the Singapura in promotional material.

A beguiling cat with large eyes and ears, a Singapura does not miss much going on in its household. Lively, curious and. intelligent with a playful nature well into adulthood, it is also very sensitive to the moods of its owners. The Singapura is a very affectionate cat with a need for hum. an company and generally gets along, well with children and other pets.

The Singapura is the smallest of cat breeds but the body is very muscular and solid. It comes in only one colour - sepia agouti, which is a dark brown ticking on a warm-ivory base colour and each hair must have at least two bands of dark ticking separated by light bands. The muzzle chin, chest and underbelly are cream. The tail has a dark tip. The soft brown lines around the eyes and down the nose contribute to a wildcat-like appearance.

The Singapura is an easy to groom cat having a fine, short coat.

The Singapura is an ideal cat for an owner who likes an interactive cat.
