ROYAL ADELAIDE SHOW 2010
Friday 3rd of September 2010 - Saturday 11th of September 2010

Description
cats

A great day for all the family.

Animals
The Learning Centre is an interesting, informative and interactive area where young people can have fun learning about public education and agriculture in a safe and supervised environment.

Located in the Old Ram Shed, there will be a range of displays and demonstrations where visitors are invited to look, listen, touch and learn.

The Learning Centre is on the Farm Walk, where children can have hands-on experience with farm animals in supervised pens staffed by agricultural science students and teachers from South Australian public schools.

BankSA Farmyard Nursery
One of the best loved show traditions is the BankSA Farmyard Nursery. Appealing to both young and old alike there will be plenty of traditional farm animals on show. Children can cuddle cute baby animals such as rabbits, chicks and guinea pigs whilst having their photograph taken.

The nursery will include miniature Shetlands, goats, lambs, chicks and calves to name but a few.

The main aviary will have plenty of our feathered friends on show too!

Dairy Farmers Milking Barn
The Dairy Farmers Milking Barn offers a great environment for children of all ages to learn through interactive, educational displays and hands-on activities, such as hand milking, just where milk comes from and how it is transformed into dairy based products. It brings a little piece of country life to city visitors and is a unique way for them to learn about the progress milk makes from cows to those products we find on the supermarket shelf.

Dog Pavilion - David Roche Pavilion
Breeds of all kinds will be shown on various days during the Show and all Best of Breeds will compete for Champion Awards. The Dog Pavilion is located in the North Western corner of the Showground.

Farm Animals
Sheep, Cattle (Dairy & Beef), Alpacas, Goats, Poultry & Pigeons

Various types of farm and domestic animals are on show throughout the Showground.

Grand Parades
Grand Parades featuring, a large cross section of animals will take place on the Main Arena.

Pig Diving & Pig Racing
The Western Entertainment Arena draws huge crowds as pigs race around a track with their brightly coloured sashes flowing behind.  The amazing pig diving routine has to be seen to be believed.  The flight distance for a diving pig is 4 metres and over.

Pet Centre Cats, Fish, Rabbits, Birds & Cavies
The Pet Centre is located North of the Dairy Pavilion and is open every day. Cats of varying breeds are judged each day with the Best of these breeds returning to compete for the Top Ten and Champion Awards.  Also on show are Fish, Rabbits, Caged Birds and Cavies.

Pigs & People
Everything you ever wanted to know about pigs can be found at Pigs & People, an educational and entertaining display about piggy pregnancies, farrowing, lactation, nutrition and breed information.  Hands-on-fun for everyone is guaranteed and an opportunity to 'Pat the Pig'.

Visit all the agriculture places of interest on the Farm Walk. Start at the Alpaca & Goat Pavilion (next door to the Pig Racing & Diving) by collecting a Farm Walk showbag, map and passport to collect stamps along the way. Follow the footsteps on the map to visit The Old Ram Shed, Golden Grains, BankSA Farmyard Nursery, Vintage Machinery, Dairy Farmers Milking Barn, Pig Pavilion and Sheep Pavilion before finishing once again at the Alpaca & Goat Pavilion.
